PEOPLE OPERATIONS

People Operations (People Ops) is the proactive management of the workforce. It empowers employees and encourages productivity through training, development, engagement, and retention. People Operations begins with recruitment and moves through the employee career cycle.  

Human Resources (HR) traditionally has been considered the company's function that oversees employee administration.  It encompasses many areas, including talent acquisition, performance evaluation, employee development, strategic planning, benefit administration, payroll, and offboarding.   

Compliance, safety, and employee well-being are essential to both HR and People Ops professionals. However, they differ in their approach to workforce management.
